RenegadeCast is produced by Sex Workers for other Sex Workers who are isolated by the current criminalization and stigma of our industry that contributes to our instability & disenfranchisement — financially, legally, politically, mentally, spiritually and physically.
In 2007, Naomi Akers created RenegadeCast in fulfillment of her Masters of Public Health at San Francisco State University. In 2008, Naomi & Melissa Gira co-taught a training for community members at St. James Infirmary, a peer-based health care clinic for sex workers in San Francisco. (Training orientation materials here.)
Naomi presented her findings from the pilot version of RenegadeCast at the International Harm Reduction Association Conference in Barcelona, May 2008. Melissa presented a poster on the podcast project at the International AIDS Conference in Mexico City.
